acid android
acid android is the solo project of Yukihiro Awaji (drummer of L'Arc~en~Ciel). The five member band consists of yukihiro (vocals), antz (guitar), tomo (guitar), kishi (guitar), and yasou (drums). Since their formation in 2001, the band has released five albums. The band's style is quite different from L'Arc~en~Ciel as their sound is much more methodical, rustic, and industrial.
The Name
DEFUNCT is an acid android song, off the album 13:day:dream. It's one of my favourites from the album and I just couldn't resist using it. There's no major symbolism with this song, I don't even know any of the lyrics, but I just love it. Don't you have some things that you love for no reason at all?
Why this band?
I'm going to admit it right now, I'm such a yukihiro fangirl. I've been listen to L'Arc~en~Ciel since 2007 and I've always had a deep admiration for yukihiro since then. His shy personality and wide smile just captured my heart. When I found out he had a solo project, I rushed at the oppurtunity to take a listen. My very first acid android song was Last Dance. I have to say, it was rather weird listening to it at first. The sounds had such a different texture from what L'Arc~en~Ciel usually produced. It was punkier and heavier. Although, I wasn't as weirded out when listening to yukihiro sing. For some reason, it sounded just like what I thought his singing would sound like. His voice is somewhat primitive and raw but it was absolutely hypnotizing. Listening to album Purification was an even better experience. All the songs were constructed wonderfully, full of rich sounds that just seemed to interlock perfectly. From then, I've always loved acid android!
